Packing lists

The most important thing to do while making lists or packing is to think in terms of containers.
What are you going to want packed in a particular box or bag? List these things together.
When making up your lists add separate amount columns for: Need, Have and Loaded.
Put the correct number in each column as it is done.
For excellent samples, go to http://www.nrsweb.com
Lots of other excellent boating & camping articles can be found there as well.

         Rope, throw rope, bow line
         PFDs with knives & whistles
         First aid kit
         Bear spray, gun
         Cooler & ice
         Tables & chairs

Utility drybox – Put like stuff, or fragile stuff, in bags or boxes inside the main drybox.
GPS, Spot, ELT, Epirb or Sat Phone

Personal Packing List

Primary personal bag: Packed with first to need items at the top.
Everything except the shoes, boots & tent are in separate bags inside my main drybag
Shoes & boots: on top because I want them first
Tent:  My next to need items
In-tent bag:  Sleeping bag, pad, pillow, light:  I throw this in the tent now that it is set up.
Toilet bag with T/P & lighter:  I hang this in my tent vestibule where it is always handy.
Med & wash bag: This bag may not stay inside the tent due to odors and bears.
Medications, hand cream, clean wipes, toothbrush & paste, soap, towel
Warm gear bag: Fleece coat, pants, socks, and a down vest sealed in a plastic bag
Clothing bag with change of clothes: This bag stays at the bottom of my primary bag until needed.

Personal float bag: Attached to whatever boat I am in at the time, and comes out when camping.
          Camera
          Water bottle, snacks
          Bug dope, head net
          Sunscreen, sunglasses, case, strap
          Rain gear, warm clothing
          Gloves, hats (sun & rain)

Think moderately lightweight for all of this stuff.  It will be easier to move it back & forth to campsites and make the boats easier to handle.  Avoid heavy canvas tents or large cots, and don’t pack more food & drinks than you will consume. (Everyone overestimates food & drink, so just don't do it.)  Plan meals and share camping equipment with others in your boat or with the whole group.
